VOSN - Very Olde St. Nick
Bottled over a continuous near 40 year period by a number of distillers from sourced whiskey, starting with Julian Van Winkle in the late 1980s for a brief period, then onto KBD for a good 20 years and more recently and currently bottled by Preservation Distiller in Bardstown. The Olde St. Nick brand has been bottled with several different source stocks originally supplied by Julian Van Winkle until the family sold the Stitzel Weller Distillery in 1992. As part of the terms of sale the Van Winkle Family was still able to source barrels from United Distillers ( Diageo) - and this carried over to KBD who was the bottler for the Old St. Nick Brand. One has to wonder if Old St. Nick was code for Old Fitzgerald given the status the Van Winkle Family held their Old Fitz brand and St. Nick containing equally high quality bourbon. As time goes by the rumors of Heaven Hill source stocks seem less likely and with bottles nearly extinct the chance to try is evaporating.
